We're the Essary family and we're exploring America one destination at a time. On this episode of TravelEssary, we are going to share with you guys our plans. Four full time travel. Let's chat.
Welcome and thank you for joining us on this amazing episode. Man. I cannot believe it's already been three seasons. I know. That is crazy. It's almost been a full year. And we do have a special episode coming out on that time. To celebrate our one year anniversary, but three seasons of travel podcast. You know, a lot of people don't make it this far. Do you know, the average podcast doesn't make it past three episodes. I know that's crazy.
Yeah. I guess, cause , you just get it into your mind, like, oh, this is going to be easy. And then by the time that you're scheduling and , you're getting all these different data points and you're figuring out what you want to talk about. That it's a little bit harder than what people think it is. A lot of work.
It's a lot of effort. It's a lot of effort. I mean, we spend. Hours every single week, trying to come up with, you know, good talking points that you would be interested in listening to, but also that we would be interested in talking about. Yeah. And not only that, that doesn't even include the time that we have to post it on social media and schedule all of that.
And you've got to upload it and you've got to add your show notes and yes, I spend probably two or three days a week just working on . Our podcast and our media in the first two we talked about. How we travel, you know, how, , you can afford to travel. Where to travel. We talked a lot about Texas because that's where a lot of our travel has been.
But we also talked about other places. , we talked about Disney world. We also talked about, , Hilton heads. Yeah. A lot of beach information. Season two. And so a lot of just like basic travel tips and tricks, right. No matter how you're going to travel of how the best way to travel. Or no matter how larger group is the best way of traveling with groups, or if it's just a one nighter, or if you're looking for doing an entire week, Airbnbs, hotels, all that kind of stuff.
And of course, you know, it's specifically America, we're exploring American America. One destination at a time. So all of our travel tips and tricks may not work outside of this country.
And season three is going to take just a slight turn. It's. We're still going to be talking about. I think it's a big term. If you're a Patriot on, you've definitely know where this is headed. Oh, yeah, they've known for months and months and months now. . If you're not a patron, we do invite you to come over, take a look at our stuff. Um, see if you like it. There's. Way more extra content over there. We do offer some seven day free trials for two of our memberships. So, you know, if you don't like it and you don't want to pay for it, you just cut that subscription. And of course all of our money , that comes from our Patrion just helps us to travel more, which gives you guys more tips and tricks and reviews.
In season three, we're going to be talking about. Why we chose. To do full-time travel. Yes, you guys. We are about to hit up full time travel. I cannot. Even begin to explain. I think I was born a nomad at heart. Um, I think so, too. So looking forward to it. Travel is like my passion. , there's so many things that we definitely want to get into, but we don't want to like, just info dump on you and put everything all in one episode, because then it would be like two and a half hours, three hours long. So we are going to break this down a little bit in our first couple of episodes into season three, and then we're going to get onto some other things, um, that are going to be more.
But I don't want to say like time constraint, but it's going to be more current. Events. That's going to take place. And we just want to start out with. Why why we chose to full-time travel now? I do want to make something that's very clear. This is not full-time vacation. Right. Because there's a huge difference from doing a full-time vacation to full-time travel. And there are people out there that full-time travel and how they do it.
I don't know. I mean, to always be on the go, go, go every single day. For 365 days out of the year. That's crazy. That is just. That's a lot of energy. That's, that's put out into that. And I guess we're not as young as we used to be, but we're not as old as some other ones all the way down to the baby.
And we have said it dozens of times on this podcast, we just prefer slow travel. We just prefer that slower paced. Life, I guess, I don't know if it's because we're from rural Texas or what, but we, we absolutely prefer the slower pace. Well, I think that's kind of what it is, is, you know, You you grew up in Dallas metroplex area. And then you moved out here to where it's such a different change of pace.
Like totally different. We can get anywhere , in our county. In like 25 minutes. Yeah. We have a large county we're in Dallas. You can't even get to the next city in 25 minutes. Yeah. So it's just a huge, big difference of pace. And we liked the slower pace we thought about. Like, there was a couple of times we had moving opportunities where we thought about. Going to bigger cities. But whenever we traveled there and we saw the traffic, it was like, Nope, we're done. Yeah. And so we're kind of digressing, but why. I feel like that has a big influence on why we chose full-time travel.
And there's no one answer to that, but I do think a large part of that is. Um, and we mentioned this on our bonus episode in March that we put on our Patrion is that when we got back from vacation last may, which we have been talking about, full-time travel for a year. Yes. We never thought it would come true, but you know, By all kinds of miracles and hard work it's happening.
One of those dreams that was like, this would be nice to do someone else do it. And we were like, oh, that's really cool. It's like, yes, you. We would love to do that. But we, we didn't even know where to start at that time. Not at all. Well, there's some other episodes that are coming up, like. You know how we even got started into this . But we want to talk about. Our decision-making. In into even going, even starting this.
Yeah. Well, when we got back from a week long vacation in may. , 20, 24. We got back from a week long vacation. And, um, it was in that moment that we decided , somewhere along that vacation, we decided, Hey, Let's do this. Let's jump out feet first or maybe headfirst. I don't know, because it was kind of nerve wracking when you don't really know what you're doing or how to do it or anything like that.
But it was sometime during that vacation, we. Had such a slow paced vacation, but yet we still did so many things and we enjoy that time so much. And we rented an Airbnb at the time. And the difference between stand into Airbnb and a hotel is like, it's incredible. When you're staying in an Airbnb for a large amount of time, it really feels like your home.
And it got us to thinking, man, if we could take our home with us, And be able to do this all the time because we traveled first. So it was so inexpensive that whole vacation, the Airbnb was by far the most expensive, and it was the cheapest Airbnb. We've ever stayed in. But we realized we could do stuff like this for a very minimal cost and have a fun, slow paced. Lifestyle we realized, oh my gosh, we can actually do this. Right.
And we were looking at some of the other vacations that we've done in the past of going. , if we would've had our house with us. We've taken our home with us with all of its amenities. And not have to worry about packing vehicles. And staying in hotels or Airbnbs. How much easier and simpler that that is compared.
And of course, it's, it'd be a slow travel. I mean, like we're not getting load up our. RV on to a plane. And in trouble. Halfway across the world. . But it was one of those things like we could get in our vehicle and just travel and no matter where we wanted to stop, we could just. You know, get the RV laid out. Everyone getting their beds with their own pillows and their own blankets. And you sleep and you get up the next morning and off you go. And so wait, we need to go back to our, why.
Well, I was leading up to that.
Okay. And so why we chose to do this? Is. Not only. The vacation destinations. That'll, you know, there's so many in America. No matter what state that you go to that we definitely want to go check out. But also we have. And in my opinion, , and you'll put your 2 cents in it here in a minute. But we have family members that are at the retirement age. And yet their bodies can't handle. Traveling as often as they want to. We'll have the ability. When they travel. Yeah, they have the ability.
I mean, like they have the funds, they have the, the equipment, they have everything they need in order to travel. But they're just at that age where their body is, cannot keep up with the every day part of traveling. Right. And so , we looked at our lives, we looked at our family. And we were like, well, do we want to wait to that point?
Do we want to wait until retirement age before we even start this? Or is there a way somewhere out there in the world, is there a way. That we can go ahead and pack up everything. And as we're traveling. And working. And doing all the experiences all at the same time. Is that possible. And I think for us, that was just one of those things of. You know, why do we want to do this?
Because we don't want to reach a point in our lives that. We're physically, mentally. Unable to travel. And bonus. If we do it now, we get to do it with our children while they're still home. We have such a short time with our kids and to be able to go and experience this with our children, which so many people don't get to do because they have to wait until retirement and their children are moved out. And I can't think of anything greater than to have this experience with our children.
And I believe it's something that they're going to . With our oldest ones, especially are going to be able to have both aspects. Right. Like, they're going to fully understand what their traditional house. Job staying in one location and still traveling looks like, and they're going to have the opportunity to see what just traveling. All the time. And still maintaining a job and everything else. W is really going to look like. Our youngest one where he is. You know, Nadia not even to, yeah. He has no concept of what's going on whatsoever.
Yeah. Children are so malleable and adaptable at that age. Right. He knows his little comfort area and that's kinda where he stays at. , and being able to take him. In a comfortable area. All over the United States and checking out everything else , it's just an extra bonus , of why we chose to do this. At the current situation that we're at. Yeah, I guess the first time we ever looked even into it, or even heard about it and decided, oh my gosh, that sounds like a lot of fun. It was around 2018 ish. We were like, people do this.
Like I only knew a retired people that did this. Of course we have lived in an RV, a travel trailer before for two years, but that's when our. Now almost 18 and 16 year old were only one and three. So big difference. . And we were stationary during that time. We didn't travel around. Jeremy had a permanent job where we live now and we were stationary.
And I got to tell you. RV life. Isn't that fun when you're stationary. Well, it's not that it's not fun because I mean, if you're looking to travel as much as possible being , stationary, Never really is fun because you're kind of doing the mundane things at the same location all the time. Yeah. And without the perks and benefits of. Uh, house right.
You still have to go sleep in hotels and other.
But once we got rid of the RV and we moved out. I swore I would never own another RV. Do you remember that?
I think that was just because we were in a central location and we didn't get to go anywhere. And we had two babies. I mean, I can definitely tell you it was way cheaper living in the larvae. Yeah, where we were then. Any house we've ever lived in a house. Having to rent. Pay mortgage or whatever. At the time we were in a travel trailer, which is not as spacious as what you know, we're planning to get. And I think that had a lot to do with it too. I mean, yes. There was no. Storage.
There was no. I don't know, after looking at fifth wheels, I don't know how we ever lived in a travel trailer. Yes. Um, you look at, especially all the newer stuff that came out after we sold and did everything else where you have all these slide-outs, you have all these different floor plans. They've really, really thought about storage. Like using it as much as possible for storage because they understand that that's one of the biggest. Obstacles that people have to do. We're going to get into that in a later episode. I'm ready for that.
I can't wait to show you guys on YouTube. I'm ready. But let's talk about what full-time travel is going to mean to us. Cause it, it doesn't mean the same thing for every family. And for us, it's probably going to look very different than most full-time travelers because we only plan on picking up and moving about every two to four weeks. Depending on what, you know, RV campground we're at.
I know a lot of people, they move several times a week.
They'll stay somewhere for three to five days and they're up and gone again. Yeah. Couple of days. And then they're off to the next spot. No. I just couldn't fathom that because by the time you set up and take down an entire huge rig, you're not having any time to explore the area. And again, We like slow travel.
So we want days where we're doing nothing but sitting in the RV. And getting work done , we don't want to be on the move constantly. It's definitely going to be one of those things where. Wherever we go. We plan to set up. And then we want to explore. As much as possible. Probably in an hour and a half circle around wherever we go. Because there's so much to do out there. The, you know, even the small stuff. , we talked about at one of the podcasts where. I didn't even know a place or beside his head, an abandoned zoo that you could go check out. Never knew it. Not far from it. Not that far from us. 45 minute drive. There's all those diamonds in the ropes that people were just looking for.
What's the next theme park or the water park or what's the next big boardwalk or something like that. It's like, there's , so much other stuff. And there's events that happen in cities. There are, um,
Festivals. Best. Yes. Market markets. There's so much that happens in just all different areas. And we're going to do our best to try to plan out as much as possible by looking at all those places and looking at all those aspects. And by just spending a couple of days there, like over a weekend or something like that. That's almost full-time travel because you're traveling and then you're doing something the next day for content, or just even check something out. And then boom, you're back on the road all over again. And you don't have Tom to like, Get get a reprieve in. I want to have a little. Where we're able to get work done. And I want to have days where we don't even leave our RV campground where just, you know, taken in the amenities.
We're resting, we're recouping because , that's our family. Like that's. Our vibe, I guess some days we'll like to hit it hard. And then for like the next day and a half, we don't want to do anything. Right. That's just, and having that option, I believe having that option is definitely like the number one thing to us is. You know, like, oh, okay, Hey, there's nothing going on here.
Or we got caught up. Up north somewhere and it's snow. And it's like, okay, well we're not going to get out. So , we need to head down south as fast as possible. So having options of being able to stay. Taking it as much as possible. And that area in that area, that region, and just seeing what's out there, our entire tagline is exploring America one destination at a time.
And if we're only in one area for a few days, we're not really taking in that destination. We're not really experiencing that part of America. And we want to be able to experience. As much of it as we can. But even slow travel and trying to take in as much as possible. We still have family members. And still have people that are to come home and see them. They are very precious to us.
We have family members that may not be in the best health and things. You know, life may just happen. And so, I mean, what does that look like for us to come home? Well, as of now, We're planning on coming home. Once a year for a month. Like during the holiday season, Thanksgiving to new years, ish. And then after that, we're kind of have to actually kind of play it by ear because you know, there's special occasions that we would want to come in for that we may just come in for a few days or something like that.
It's really hard to. Plan outside of, Hey, we're definitely coming home for. You know the holidays, but outside of that, it's so hard to plan that. So far in advance because we really don't know. And so, because we don't know, that's kind of . The other part of why we plan on staying in certain locations for longer, because we've already reserved them.
And there is an emergency, or there is a special occasion that we want to come back to. There's a. A big birthday party that we want to come to, or there's a wedding or something. You know, , a birth that we want to come back to. We definitely want to have that option of coming back. And if we need to leave our rig there. While we make our travel back then that's something that that's an option available to us. But we're definitely going to be coming back as much as possible.
I can't say definitely. We will be here every single time, but we will be as close to home as possible during the holiday season, which in my opinion is Thanksgiving. To new years, like Misty said, um, there's opportunities as far as work goes. To really crunch in a whole lot during that time, it's kind of a peak time for, for what we plan on doing. And. But doing that number one brings down our cost because we're not traveling.
We already have a permanent place that has all the amenities that is totally free to us. No, it's not totally free. We got. Well for electric. I gotta pay electricity. Everything else is totally free to us. And then we have, uh, the opportunity to kind of build up our nest egg. To. You know, prepare ourselves for the coming year. Coming near and everything is that we want to do with it as we've already kind of planned out that year.
, and double-checked. Events and festivals and markets and other stuff that's going on. So. We will be coming home. It just won't be as much. Or as often as some people might like for us, Only be different. Because I don't think we've ever been more than two and a half weeks without seeing a relative. And that's probably because we were gone on vacation. I like it.
If they didn't go with us, if they didn't go with this. Exactly. Um, because a lot of the time they went, they went with us for most of that time. Yeah. 10 day trip to Hilton head and bag. Right? I think that was the longest that we've ever been. That we haven't seen a relative. Right. Because most of our relatives, all of our immediate family lives within an hour. And then most of our extended family lives within three hours. So, um, we have very few family members outside of Texas and we both have very large families.
So that'll be something that. I think. We're all going to have to adjust to not just us, but our relatives. They're already kind of freaking out about us taking the kids away. And not just our relatives, but close family, friends already given us a hard time about taking the kids away because. Um, I guess our, our community, not so much where we live, but our circle of friends and family, we're so closely knit with them because it's. Almost the same faces our whole lives, including our friends, or at least they've been a part of our lives for 10 plus years.
Right. And you know that, I think personally, that's going to be our biggest adjustment. Is not having that circle around us all the time. True. And, and not only just a circle of no, I mean, we can always call and we can always have those conversations, but not being able to see them face to face and then, or eating dinner with them, or, you know, And even the safety net of like, oh, Hey, emergency happened. Or, Hey, can you come watch my kids? Did this happen? Can you take the kids?
Can we borrow the car or the truck, or, you know, Hey. Um, I need help taking down a tree or something of that nature. And so. Even not even having that is going to be, especially for me, is going to be a big adjustment. You know, my dad has always been very handy. With tools and fixing things and , your dad is, is really nice as far as construction work goes and everything like that.
And then not having that. In South Carolina where something breaks. And we're just going to have to YouTube and figure it out ourselves. We're going to figure it out. It's going to be entertaining. Rich enough. We won't have to YouTube every time something breaks down. Yeah. We might be a little afforded to take it into the dealer so they can fix it or have someone else do it. Hey. That would be really nice. But it is going to be something that is definitely going to change. Um, But even, you know, , how we're preparing the kids for the change. Oh, we've been talking about it since 2018.
So it's not like we sprung it upon them suddenly. Right. And it's something that they have grown and have come to the understanding that, of just the remarkable. Uh, ability and availability. That this is going to have for them . Well, the two oldest for sure. They like to travel as long as we can travel slow. If we have to do fast based travel, they'd rather stay at home and not go on vacation.
And our oldest has flat out, told us that before. Yeah. I mean, there's been times when we've gone places and he's like, what are y'all going to be doing? And we tell him, you know, the 10 things on the list and he's like, That's a little too much. Yeah. I'm like, okay, I get it. Which was, I think was Y R R May, 2024 trip was so great.
And that's what really pushed us over the edge. Was because we had the Airbnb for a week and we, you know, we've talked about this before we went back, um, in the afternoons and chilled and let the kids have their own times and their own bedrooms and do what they wanted. We were able to go fast paced in the mornings and then out again in the evenings, if we wanted, and they had a reprieve in the middle of the day, they enjoy that kind of travel and we can hit it hard in the mornings, as long as they're able to take those breaks in the afternoons. And if we're in our RV and we can, you know, You go back frequently. And they have their own spaces and their own things and their electronics and whatever it is that they want and have their own time. Then they said, you know, , they're very much looking forward to that.
In fact, I think one of the things they're absolutely looking forward to is no longer having to pack when we travel. Like having to pack a suitcase and unpack a suitcase and all of that, like, they're excited about having everything at their disposal. Pretty much 24 7. Well, then as we have everything with us, it's not really going to mess up the routine. A whole lot. The routines. We can plan our activities and our days around our normal family schedule, right?
It's not like , we're going to go to a theme park in them is subject there of how everyone feels or where you are on your ride. But if we want to go on a hike, we can already plan that hike. Right. Oh, yeah, we're going to be back for. Let's eat lunch at a normal time. We don't have to worry about that.
And then we'll go back out and do X, Y, and Z. Yeah. Like our. Typical travel is like we have downtime in the late afternoon. Is typical for almost every day. Of any vacation we've ever done. And that's like, that's even during the day when we're at home, like that's kind of our downtime because I've always homeschooled the kids and they're usually finished right after lunch.
And so right after lunch in the early to late afternoon, like that was always their downtime. They were done with school. They could have their screens, they could do whatever. And since, you know, Kindergarten age until teenagers. That's how it's always been for them. And I think as long as we don't make them change that too much, then they're going to be good.
I know that they both like traveling and adventure, as long as we continue doing it in the style, as we've always done.
And so by taking all that in consideration, We plan to start.
One of us wants to start really soon. The other one has. Uh, for sure. Definite timeline. , but it's not going to be as fast as maybe someone else might want.
Are you talking about when we actually get on the road? When we actually, when we actually start traveling. Whenever we sell the traditional house. I'm no longer working. This podcast, we are just days away from our closing day. So that's true. We are under contract right now and just days away from our closing on our house.
And then hopefully by next week, we'll either have an RV or be very close to having our RV.
Yes. Going one down getting one of those either under contract. Yeah. . Yes. And what Jeremy's trying to say is that my goal and the kids, because they're really excited at this point is to leave, , hit the road, I guess. Um, around the 1st of July. I think Jeremy is still leaning towards September. Ish. I'm still leaning towards September. There's some unknown. That we haven't fully answered yet. Yes. But I think if we get the ball rolling, just like we have everything else that it's going to surprise you, how. It's going to happen. It could be end there. There are some.
Responsibilities. Outside of family. Um, specifically work. That I definitely don't want to leave my job hanging in because they've been so good to me. But it is something that. We might have to speed a few things up because there's a, there's a lot of projects. There's a lot of things that I'm in charge of, or that I'm a part of that. They don't finish until September, October.
And so , there are . Some things that I would love to see to the end. I don't have to see to the end, but I would love to see to the end. Awesome. Would it be if we left in July? And that is our a year anniversary. That would be so super cool. In a year, right? Yeah. That would be nuts for that too. Fully come into fruition and. It's not something that I'm against. It's just. There's unknown. It's not as hopeful.
I don't want to say I'm not as hopeful.
I'm not as a daring. I'd rather put it that way.
Headfirst Jeremy's feet first or maybe one toe at a time. I mean, I'm definitely not even die. I'm definitely looking over the edge. And I would love to know how deep it is before I delve in. And I'm already in. And this is like, oh, the water is fun. It's like, okay.
Our personalities are so different. I don't know. I just have a lot of. That's a whole nother story. I just have a lot of faith in. And who we are and how we are able to accomplish things right in our mindset and our ability to lift each other up. During hard times or during a struggle or something. Um, is definitely. Just smack you around now. I mean, we'll figure it out.
And we have already. Drastically downsized. We're going to have a whole episode about downsizing. And the differences of. You know, living in a house and living in an RV. So I don't want to touch on that too much, but we are living in the bare bones right now in our home because we are, again, just days away from closing. That's been an entire process.
And if you have kept with us on our Patrion, you know, cause we have told you every month on our bonus episode where we're at in that process and it's definitely been one of the hardest processes is downsizing. But, um, I'm also very excited here pretty soon to share with you guys to break down a budget of how we're doing it.
You know, we recently just did an episode of how we afford to travel in general, and that was our most downloaded episode ever. And to this day it still gets the most downloads weekly. And I cannot wait until we're able to break down. Like our RV budget and how we're able to full time travel. Um, I'm curious to see how that all pans out myself. We have a really good idea.
We've been working on it for a year. But for it to actually come to fruition. And once it does, I I'm so excited to share that with you guys. I think a lot of you are going to be like, oh, I think I want to join this little RV lifestyle. Cool. I think that's one of the. One of the unknowns. That needs to be answered. Is, you know, especially for myself is going to be the income part of it. No, how are we going to afford to do this?
But I think it's something that every one. Let's not, let's not. Give people the wrong impression. We're not going into this without any like jobs. Uh, or as far as like, how are we going to make income though? We have all of that. We've been researching and planning and preparing for almost a year now. But that would be crazy. To go into this without even knowing I have no clue where we're going to get money from. But, uh, But it's not set in stone yet.
And that's the part that like, it worries Jeremy. There's just a few more things that we got to figure out as far as. Finalizing that. The finance part of it. And I mean, I'm definitely looking forward because everyone like, even, even the people that I lot, even the people that you watch and, and the people that we watch and we listened to together.
Some of their biggest episodes are what's the numbers. Yeah, because people are so curious about. I guess because we were, when we first. Started talking about it, like, okay, we for sure want to do this. Could we even afford it right. And we were talking today in the car when we were traveling somewhere else and it was, we would watch. Three or four people and they would say, oh yeah, you need about six grand. A month a month. And w which is way more than what I'll make even now. Yeah. And there are other people that are like, oh yeah, you only need about $2,000. And I'm like, why is there such a big difference between one or the other. Yeah. I think that's something that I'm definitely looking forward to, to getting as much information. And especially the way that I know that we travel. And to get you guys that number. To really break it down to do a full, deep dive.
And I don't know if that'll be on our regular podcast, but I do plan on putting that out on our Patrion. Of literally breaking it down number by number to show you guys how we are. Um, able to full-time travel and like the exact number that looks for us in every category.
And it's just one of those things that everyone wants the number, because I mean, it all comes down to finances. It all comes down to the expenses. It all comes down to what can I live on? Or, you know, Hey, I liked their lifestyle. So , if I kind of do what they're doing, then this is going to be kind of what it's going to cost me to do that. There are other people that. Like the extravagant stuff.
Yeah, it absolutely depends on your lifestyle. Just like when you own a home or a vehicle. It depends on your priorities and your lifestyle of what you can afford. And there's other people that are like, I don't need anything. I don't even need a park to stay in. Well, yeah, a lot of people that boondock majority of the time, they can spend $500 or less a model. A month.
And so.
Going through the adventures and everything that we plan on and everything that's going to happen. Of being able, Hey, we did all of this in a month. And this is what it costs us. Yeah. Now we have been doing a ton of research. And we have a pretty good idea of what it's going to look like for us financially.
But again, it's none of that is set in stone yet because we have yet to do it. Um, but we do have a really good picture of the finance part. So yes, I am very excited to share that with everybody. . We are because , we have certain things that we have definitely set in stone. And there's things that we are. Already preparing to take care of before we hit on the road. Because we don't want. We don't want the 12, $1,400. Truck payment or. RV payment.
And so there's. Definitely things that we are doing our absolute best to minimize when are we fully go full travel? That's already taken care of that. We're not trying to take care of as we travel. Because, I mean, that could become a huge hindrance on you. Financially that if an emergency happens or something like that. Then do you have. Can you recover from it?
Right. Which is always a big fear of mine. Can you recover from. I feel like that can be in any aspect though, I guess this is where you and I different because even when you own a home, like w we're on our second home that we own. Anything could happen. Anything could happen, but as. It's totally different.
Whenever you have to take your house. So you have a truck, you have a trailer. And a lot of. A lot of RV places once your time is up.
Usually already booked it. Yeah, so you have to move off. And if you can't do that, What happens? Yeah. And that's just, that's just kind of a, I don't want to say a fear, but it's just something that I think about. Yeah. Oh, that's a good segue into our next topic. As we're talking about, you know, the fears, the uncertainty, and you know, how we're mentally handling those things.
I'm not handling very well. Not handling them. We haven't even left yet. Jeremy's already stressed about it. Well, because here's my thing. I know they're going to happen. Because they happen to everybody and it's just a part of the RV life. And we're just going to have to, you know, face anything each day as it comes.
Like if you go in with a mindset of saying, okay, I know it's going to happen. And. I'm just going to mentally prepare myself. And as much as I can financially prepare myself for it, then I'm good. I think, you know, you're able to get through it much better in that aspect.
Just like our episode, dealing with disappointments, babe. I remember you were given everybody though speeches. And it's really good advice. So you really need to go listen to that one. Yeah. But it's also one of those things where. You know, especially for me, I have to mentally prepare. You know, even this morning weather didn't cooperate with us. And I was like, What am I doing today?
I was like, it was the entire day was president already for a specific thing. And that specifically did not happen because weather happened. And I had to go back, listen to the episode when you got up this morning to help your minds. So I had to go back and I had to remember you. I was like, it's not the end of the world. There's other stuff that we can do. We can take your other stuff to do. Sort of taking care of those things and then. You know, we're up here talking and the more, you know, we talk about, it's like, well, wait a minute.
What if we, what if I get somewhere? In the truck breaks down. And then, I mean, it could happen. We can't move.
I see I've already have like so many thoughts about things like that. You can rent a truck. There are companies that will Slingshot a trailer for you. You know, you have all these options. And I guess it's because I follow a lot of like full-time travel families and stuff on Facebook. I'm probably on like 12 or 15 different pages. I've seen. Every scenario, we've talked about happen to these people and then the comments of how it was handled by different ways, by different people.
And I've seen all these different ways of, okay, so if this happens, we can have this, this, and this and this option. So in my mind, I'm already like, okay, these things are going to happen, but there are ways around them. But that's not the point that I'm looking at. The point I'm looking at is how much is this going to cost us? That's why we have a savings account. But it's still there because yes, your savings account.
I'd be like, oh, okay, Hey, we need to fix this. And then you move to the next place. And something else happens. You don't have time to recoup that back. And so at that point,
I've seen so many people. That you know, , their last YouTube thing that they put out is like, Hey, it's over. And it's all over because of. One. One thing that they didn't prepare for, which is the finance part of it. You. You know, there's just travel, travel, travel. And then they, were really wanting to put him back into savings.
And so that's why we're not going to do that. Which is, which is the whole reason of showing you the budget of trying to go through and be like, okay, Hey look. But there's other things that you need to prepare because we know they're coming. We know that they're going to happen inevitably. And the lifestyle. I mean, just like when you own a home, it's inevitable for your AC units. I mean it's how many times has it happened to us? And hell storm to come and you're just going to be going. I feel like it's just different ways of that happening. In the RV lifestyle. And the one thing that I'm really worried about is because the United States highways are so well-built and they're so phenomenal. It's like driving on air. Yeah, this is like smooth as glass. Well, we're going to be taking this, our house. And it's going to be bumps and it's going to be jars and. And things are going to get knocked loose, slow. And we're not, and we're not going to know until we set up. Things in. I was like, wait a minute.
What happened here? One, is there water running out here as all this? Great thing about us, you know, stained at one place for longer periods of time. That does enable us to, you know, try to get something fixed. And if we can't to make those adjustments, that gives us time to make those adjustments without having to like. Try to fly by the seat of our pants.
Cause I've seen so many YouTubers do that. They're like there, you know, they have the next four months booked and they're not staying anywhere more than two or three nights. And they're just like, they're frantic. So whenever something happens, they don't have that. That flexibility. Those options because they've already booked in and then they got to go. And then they can't go anywhere. And by watching all these different people and the way they travel and how they handle things. Has definitely influenced a lot of our decisions of like how we want to travel.
Not just like our own personal travel style, which we definitely have a travel vibe, but also by watching others, we're like, okay, we don't want to experience that, or, okay.
I do like that or something like that, which is why we want to share so much with you guys. Not only through a podcast, but, um, you know, we plan on coming up with YouTube videos every week. For our full-time travel. .
But one of the things that we have a little bit of. Knowledge and understanding. Is. The, the closeness of all of us. Right. I feel like we have a lot of knowledge, one living in an RV because we've done that before. We've lived in two different RVs, a classy in a travel trailer. For over two years between the two. And we travel frequently.
Now we just have to put those together. Yes. And, you know, like today while we're recording, you know, it's raining outside and we're going to have to be. Together in a confined area, . Which. Choosing a good layout is important, super important. And whenever we. Officially get our RV and everything is going full blast.
We're definitely going to be putting that out on YouTube . Just to, to let you understand that there's because there's so many different options out there. And if you don't get the right layout and you don't get the right. The living space for your family. You're already starting off. In the hole and no one was start off there. So, but we're doing. We're already.
So used to being, you know, A close-knit family, I guess, because we've have homeschooled the kids, their whole life. Um, you know, even right now, as we're podcasting, Ariel's sitting in the same room with us and so is Jasper and these two are almost always in the same room as us. It's the, 18 year old that likes his own space and we're going to ensure that he gets it, but it wasn't until just a few years ago that he even started doing that.
So I feel like we are going to be okay with the closeness, as long as we choose the right layout.
And , there's other things that are, you know, the uncertainties , it's the homesickness, because , we've never been that long, that long without seeing someone. Or someone even inside of our close circle. Goodness. For. Technology like FaceTime and stuff now. We're definitely going to be using that a whole lot more than we've ever done it before the job that I'm getting. Um, Just because of the nature of it. I will definitely be using that more than I have ever done before. Because anyone that knows me. I don't like talking on the phone for an extended period of time. Never have, even when we were dating, you will fall asleep within a few minutes of talking. Cause like, Hey, what's up?
How's your day. Oh, they was good. What'd you do? And then that's the end of the conversation. I think that really comes from a gas standpoint, but that's just kind of how it is. But we're going to be doing so much more away from people that. The disconnection. The physical disconnection. But between each other is something that we're going to have to try to bridge the gap in so many different ways, as much as possible. With FaceTime or, or videos or calling each other every single day, sending text messages, all that kind of stuff.
Facebook, Instagram, I mean all the different social media platforms that we have. Yeah. Also, so any friends and family that are listening, make sure that you are following us on every social media platform that we offer. They are down in the show notes because once we hit the road, you're not going to be seeing our pretty faces very much. Absolutely. So that we can stay in contact with you. Because we don't want to lose contact with people. , which you're totally right. Technology has come such a long ways. And hopefully it will be a whole lot easier with all the technology that we have because. There's so much personal family and professional growth that we want to continue to happen.
Oh yeah. I cannot wait to see. Like, I'm just as curious as everybody else to see what happens with travel. Esery. From our podcast or our YouTube channel to our media, all of our social media channels, because the opportunities we're going to have going forward are absolutely incredible. The content we're going to be able to create and put out there for our, our brand and our business.
It's, it's exciting. It's like mind blowing. Like, I can't even think that far ahead. I mean. We're still in such like the end part of this planning process. We haven't started yet, but I am. I mean, just the stuff that we've already talked about, just the different aspects. Have, you know, parks and. All the, the activities that go. That are going to be going on in that region while we're there. And just the different things that we're going to be able to see. Is. Is going to be kind of eyeopening because although we've done it, we've done a lot of vacations outside of Texas. We've only ever been in the Southern region though. And we never stayed somewhere for an extended period of time. To really take in the culture and whatever that region has for us. Unless we were at a, uh, Vacation destination. And so I'm really looking forward to that aspect and building those relationships with people. Um, And especially for myself is to get kind of a little bit more outside of my shell. Yes, although I'm not an introvert. No, but you like what you like. I like what I like. And not explain that nicely. Yeah, Jeremy, Jeremy just has a comfort zone. Like even we've mentioned this before. Um, Even when we go out to eat for a long time, he would always order the same thing at whatever restaurant he was going to for years and years and years. But lately you have been branching out like the last like five years or so.
You've, you've started changing that up a little. So I'm looking forward to. Get you out there. You know, get out a little bit more, as far as that personal side goes. Yeah, I'm excited to see, you know, all the different cultures that are throughout America, because every region has its own way of doing things.
Its own way of talking. Their own way of cooking. And I am excited to explore all of that and not just explore it. But to share it with you guys. Yes. I mean, our main goal. Is not to video our life.
But our main goal is. I have to video as much as possible, or my mom's going to kill me. Is to share. As much as possible. That's out there. Right. Because a lot of people, I mean, even people in , the north region, I know someone that is from Chicago and besides Chicago and Indiana, they really don't go anywhere else. And so even in those areas, there's so much to do. We have friends and family.
Who've never left Texas. I can't wait to show them. Hey. Look at all these things you're missing out on. Not just that, like, if you. If you were to follow. I'm not going to say basic, but your average influencer or blogger or something that travels. They always are at your most popular destination, right? And they never show. , what's in your backyard. You know, you our listener?
What's in your backyard. You know, not just the biggest cities, not just the most beautiful destinations, but all over America, because America is not just large cities , and beautiful beaches. It's so much more. And I want to experience all of that. And I want to share. You know what. What you guys offer where you live and what you're doing and your lifestyle. I'm just excited. And we tell everyone. Almost on all of our podcasts where we talk about destination places, or we talk about just all , the trips that we've taken. If you have a place. That is in your little area that is in your city. And it's one of those hidden gyms or a special festival. Absolutely. That you know, goes on , in your area.
Let us know. So we can start planning because if we leave in July, I've got like three months. Um, I gotta get this plan. Yes. I mean, we're super excited about, even if we leave. Later in September, October. Of the different things , that we can hit and we can see, , we can. Experience. So , if you have anything. Uh, cool eating place that no one else really knows about.
I mean, we've talked about. All the different eating places that you can go. Yeah. We've done our top 10 hidden. Restaurants in Texas. Well, we would love to know the hidden restaurant in the state that you live. Absolutely. I want to eat them. I love anything revolved around food. Cajun food. Hook me up eat at them. You know, Georgia , with all , your Southern comfort food, let us know, you know, Hey, where do we go?
Get the best biscuits and gravy. Yeah. If we're gone to Maine, tell us where we can get the best. Lobster roll. Where's the seafood at. And so, um, Just, or just invite us to your backyard. Barbecue. No joke.
Yeah. We will. We will come. That is one of my goals. So on Patrion, our Patrion members will know where we are in real time. Um, it may not necessarily be the case in all of our other social media platforms. We will be behind. Just for scheduling purposes and given us time, , flexibility and time to breathe.
So we're not constantly filming and recording and things like that. We do want to have our own personal time as well. But if you're following us on Patrion and where , in your area. Invite us to a barbecue. We will bring something. We will come and we will have a good time. My goal is for every stop to be invited to someone's house.
She say we'll bring something.
It might be something Texan. Yeah. It might be something a little weird to you and. It might be some Texas barbecue or some TexMex or some TexMex. You know, like some street tacos or something. And they might be a little different than. You know, something that you're used to. But I guarantee it's going to be good. I'm a decent cook. Yeah.
So, yeah.
I could totally see that happening. Yeah. So I'm invited through your barbecue. And get on our Patrion. So, I mean, . We have all sorts of social media that we're on. Yeah. Be sure to follow along as much as possible. Just so you know, going forward. Yes, we will be. Uh, adding a lot of like RV. Topics into our podcast, mentor blogs, but we're also still going to keep, you know, along the same format of giving you guys reviews of places we've been to, um, tips and tricks when you're in those areas. So it's also just for travelers in general, not, it's not just going to be for full-time. Absolutely. Just anybody who wants to travel. In America travel. Because even if you, you know, we, we talked about the festivals and we talked about the different events, markets and stuff. Those a little day trips, right? Those aren't Hey, we're going to go spend a week over here. And we're going to talk about, you know, the week long travels, we're going to talk about. Just traveling on the road. I can't wait to break down, you know, the different regions and. We're just going to be talking about everything that we've already talked about. It's just going to be. More information, right. Instead of are way more different. Places.
Yeah. Instead of our, you know, , our small monthly trips, we're talking about full-time travel here. I'm just so excited about all the content. And yes, I do apologize. I know on our social media platforms. It's been a little slow, probably the last two weeks and probably for the next two weeks as well, we will continue our regular podcast. Um, I know we've already missed two Saturdays for our blog, but you guys. This moving process is like, Uh, 24 hours. Thing. And it has taken so much of our time, this process of getting the house sold and moving out and then getting the RV.
It's like a month of chaos, which we have talked about in our Patrion, for sure. Our content has definitely been lacking, but I promise you if you keep with us, it's going to be worth it because our content is about to explode on every platform.
