We're the Essary family and we're exploring America. One destination at a time. On this episode of TravelEssary. We're going to discuss how Disney world is not just for the kiddos. Let's chat.
Welcome and thank you for joining us on this episode. As we talk about Disney world. Not just for kids. This is going to be a thrilling conversation. As we get into things that adults can really look forward to going to Disney world and all the different events and the different activities. And everything that Disney world has to offer. Just beyond. What there is for kids, because there is so much that Disney world caters to as far as adults are concerned. I think this episode is going to be very telling. Especially when we approach a controversial topic. , about Disney world, as far as it not just being for kids and that we both strongly agree. That it's a vacation you can take, even if you have no kids with you. Because we have talked about doing it many times. Absolutely.
I mean, it's definitely one of those things that if we would've known Disney world was going to be as fun. And as exciting. As it has been. Then we probably would have done our absolute best to save up and to plan and to schedule. For us. To take our honeymoon there. Yeah, we probably would have taken our honeymoon there.
And I honestly didn't realize it was as affordable as it was back then either. But, um, did you know it is ranked in the top 10 places in America for a honeymoon destination? I did not. I definitely want to put that into my mindset or my thought process of like, Hey, let's go take a honeymoon. Where would you want to go? That Disney world would even crack my top 10.
Well, think of it. People our age were in that millennial age range or late thirties, early forties. , we grew up in like the hype era of Disney When Disney started like bursting out of its seams in the late eighties and early nineties is whenever it just like unexploded, it took off. Of course Disney's been around way longer than that, but I feel like a lot of the, the major iconic. Movies. Came out during that time period.
And that's what we grew up on. And so it's extremely nostalgic, I think for us. Absolutely. It's definitely one of those places that. , we've talked about. , in other conversations of Disney world was definitely one of those places that we wanted to go to.
Even as kids we wanted to go to in teenagers, we wanted to go, we were so deprived. We were so deprived, like. The vast majority of all my cousins got to go before I got to go. And it was just one of those things where I was. Really sad and about, cause I was like, oh my goodness. It's Disney world. It's magic kingdom.
It's Epcot. , it was those that you went to go see. And to go look at the Cinderella castle and everything that was there. Even at. You know, way back in the day, like our kids would say. But even now, I mean, If we had to choose a location. That we could go even without our children. Besides a very particular. Tropical place that we both definitely want to go. Um, this would, it would be in the top three for sure. Oh, yeah, it definitely. One, I always enjoy Disney world, but. I can think of. Why and how much easier it would be so much easier. With just does.
I love taking our kids and I love experiencing it. Through their eyes, but as an adult, I really enjoy the place too. And if you think that. Everything is geared towards kids in Disney world. You're absolutely wrong. Absolutely. It is not. There's a lot of things that are actually geared towards adults.
Now, one of those things, being the food and wine festival in Epcot that takes place every year. It's usually around the fall time. , Maybe August through November ish. , it's not always the same time every year, but that's when it normally is. And the food and wine festival is absolutely geared towards adults. One because, , , you know, alcoholic beverage that has, you have to be 21 plus to even consume right. Whatever we had. Just for clarification sake.
Whenever we do talk about adults, we're talking about 21 plus because there are things that even though you're 18 and are 19 or 20, you could still enjoy. But you won't get the full on blown. Oh, there are places where I'm going to discuss here in a minute. You can't even enter unless you're 21 on the Disney world property. So, yeah, right. So whenever we say adults, that's 21 plus, right. And so the food and wine festival absolutely geared towards adults.
It takes place in the fall. Usually right after school has started. So , the crowds are not there. Um, a lot of the miners are not there of course, all year long. You have families that visit and things like that, but it's not as many. And the food, it's not your kitty food. It's not stuff with Mickey ears. It's , high end top-notch sometimes experimental type food.
That's geared towards an adults. Pallet Rudd. More of the elegant style. That's going to be plated really well for you. Like Misty said, it's not something that's going to be your typical Disney world Disney themed. Type stuff. And it, it just kind of goes towards the adults because I mean, they're going to have wine tasting.
That's going to be there from all over the world. So , it's a sample and variety of food and drinks. , from around the world because there's in the world showcase and if you're like us and you don't drink alcoholic beverages, they actually have really unique and experimental non-alcoholic beverages as well. During the food and wine festival.
So, , a really good time to go if you're a foodie or if you're doing an adult only vacation, if it's just you and your spouse or you and your friend, or maybe you're taking a solo trip. , food and wine festival, I think is the perfect time to go. I believe so, because like Misty said a lot of . The adolescents, a lot of the kids are already off to school or doing back into their normal extracurricular activity stuff. And so if you're coming from overseas or you're just traveling from around the world or in America, or you just taking a trip and you have two or three days to. You know, Kind of experience because you're not going to get the full experience in two or three days of Disney world, but you will definitely enjoy Epcot to its fullest going at that point in time.
And some of the crowds will be down that you can go and enjoy some of the other parks without having to fight the hustle and bustle. And if you're a foodie in general, like us, if you enjoy. Um, trying foods and yes, I have no problem scheduling entire vacations around food. And food tours , but Disney world , has world renowned restaurants.
They have. 15, I think signature restaurants throughout the resort. That are top tier, I mean, top notch. There are celebrity chefs , and well-known chefs that have restaurants, , throughout the resort. Five star Michelin restaurants by . Very famous chefs. That specifically want to come to Disney world. And put on the , amazing food. That they serve. Yeah.
And personally. , I don't think that's a place I would take kids. I just won because it's so expensive. And it's not really geared towards a child's palette now are teenagers. Yes. But now that we have a one-year-old, who's going into toddler stages and little kids stages. I wouldn't want to visit a place like that with him.
The. With the hustle, right? Cause you're going to have to sit there and go through, you know, either a five or seven course meal. As it's brought out in little pieces and yes, our one-year-old. Would not sit there. No, those are perfect places for date nights or honeymoons or anniversaries or special birthdays or something like that. It's a great place to have an adult only time on the Disney world resort. , there's a lot of really great places that you could go.
For instance, the grand Floridian resort is actually the resort and spa. And there is a very famous spa there. And you have to make your reservations, or you're not going to get in make your time a lot of the ones we're talking about today, you will need reservations for. , , and you don't have to be staying at the Grande, Florida, and resort to make a reservation at the spa.
You can just go ahead and make your reservations. If you're having girl time. You know, that would be a great place to go., you could go as a couple, some men like to go to spas, I guess. Even if you're you plan on having a wedding, then that'd be a great place for, you know, the girls for the bridesmaid and for the bride to go and just, you know, do all their, their primping and everything. You know, get it all the way to the nine. , before the big day. And then the gas can go out and hit the golf courses. And, you know, just have their enjoyable time as well.
And then you have your wonderful wedding at course, the most magical place in the world. So, yeah, and around the grand Floridian area, which is absolutely beautiful. The hotel is. Actually what I want to talk about, , if you're into photography at all, or if it is a special occasion, it's the perfect place to take pictures around that area. , you can anniversary pictures, wedding pictures, honeymoon pictures. Whatever, if you're into picture taking or photography, it is a really great location to do that. And it's, you know, it's fancier, it's more ritzy. , it's a place that, you know, You feel like you need to be dressed up just to walk around. , we did take the kids there last time. , we walked past that area to go to our miniature golf. And they weren't as impressed with architecture and stuff as we were, , was definitely impressed. I. I think that's definitely an adult type thing. And the dining that they have in there, the way that they have the tables all set up and that there was a few people eating that were getting served.
And it was it's one of those high-end restaurants that you would go to where, you know, the. The waiters or the waitresses, they have the little bow ties on and they're serving people with a little cloth over their arm. It was somewhere, definitely that without kids, somewhere where you could actually go and just take a little bit time and enjoy. It's definitely one of those places. And then to me, this is more of an adult experience. , our teenagers are getting to where they enjoy this more, but it's shopping. And as children, they don't really enjoy shopping unless they're getting a toy. It's the only time if you've heard children have ever enjoyed shopping. Well, I think also with children is a lot of stuff that they're looking at is , they're kind of. Micro-focused into certain aspects of whatever they're interested in at that point in time. It kind of the older that you get, the more macro that you get as far as. It's a little bit broader. You can enjoy things from one extreme to the other extreme. And so shopping is definitely one of those things that we enjoy above everything.
Our kids, not so much, but we drag them through the stores anyways. Well, now that they're teenagers and they have their own spending money, they do enjoy the shopping experience a bit more, especially Ariel she's 15 now, 15 year old girls . Really loved their shopping. But everywhere that you go and Disney world, there is . Some sort of shopping experience and opportunity. So last week we talked about the boardwalk and Disney Springs and they're loaded with shops. And of course your theme parks are as well. And if you're, uh, going to Disney world, I'm assuming you are in some form or fashion, a Disney fan. And one of the great things about the parks is all of the collectibles and memorabilia memorabilia that you can get.
That is only found there. On the resort. And you could shop. All day. , and I feel like shopping is a very adult. Experience.
They definitely have some of the unique shopping places, , Talking about , how broad, especially like my spectrum is like, I can enjoy Lego land. I can enjoy looking at fancy watches. I can enjoy looking at sunglasses. I could enjoy looking at athletic wear. It's just so broad and
especially if you go to Disney Springs. With over 90 plus shopping venues that you can go to. , most of those are going to be for adults. You know, you're going to go there. There's, there's a golfing store. There's an athletic store. Like workout equipment cuts, type things. There's sunglasses. There's flip-flops their shoes. , there's a coach purchased. Jewelry stores, coach purses. The, I mean, whatever you're looking for, especially whenever you're looking at 90 plus stores. You're going to find something that you. You're going to want to buy.
And this, these Springs is just definitely one of those places that you can go and have a good time. And of course they have all your other stuff. As far as eating. , and I mean, In my opinion. Disney Springs is really geared as an overall spectrum, really geared towards the adult side. And not necessarily the kid's side, especially the nightlife of both Disney Springs. And the Disney boardwalk. There are, , Bars and dance halls, clubs.
I don't know what you want to call them, but they're 21 plus, and they're only open like in the afternoons and evenings and you can't even enter unless you were 21 years old. So if you need. Adult only time and you're on a family vacation, then head off to that. Or if you're on an adult only vacation, then. If you're into that kind of scene, which Jeremy and I aren't particularly, but if you are. Then that is an option for you.
Are those. 21 plus only places and at the four seasons resort, um, there's actually an adult only pool.
Because. You know, kids can get rowdy and loud. And I guess they wanted to have at least a one option. On the Disney world resort that. At adult adults could go swimming without having kids splashing. , and of course, you know, we go with our kids and we enjoy, they have the Disney music and the singing and the dances along the edges of the pool and things like that.
And in the adult only pool at the four seasons, they don't do all of that. It is more of a relaxing type atmosphere. Well, if you've ever been on a cruise, they always have those 21 areas. Because, you know, if you go around, most pools, kids are going to be splashed and they're going to be jumping into the pool. They're just going to be making a bunch of loud noise. And at the 21, plus it's more, a little bit laid back. It's more of soaking in the water,
activist shopping real quick. Cause I just thought about this. Uh, Jeremy and I, every time we go to Disney world, we always look for a mug. Like we all, we all want to pick out mugs. That's one of my favorite things. When we go through each park and each area of Disney world, when we're shopping is specifically looking at the unique mugs, the coffee mugs that they have. It's one of my favorite things.
I think, as a family, we all kind of collect that. If you're a Disney lover and you're into any kind of collecting, then they'll have whatever you're looking for. I mean, cause we do mugs and the way that we do mugs is none of us are coffee drinkers. But I like hot chocolate.
So. My mug is usually used for that. Um, Misty's mug is used for like cereal and soup and do like to eat out of my mugs. I buy the really wide mouth. They're really big ones. Uh, Ariel does hot chocolate and she'll get like milker, you know, be speced of during the holiday season. And then Justin likes hot tea.
, we've all got our own individual mugs and you can tell whenever you open up. Our cabinets and you see the mugs, you can tell which mug belongs to who. Yes, because how unique they are to us. I also think it's funny that over half the mugs that we have are from Disney world.
Yes. I only have to get one. Every time we go, we each have to pick one out. So. So that's a fun, little, a fun little family tradition. We have, I can't wait to take Jasper when he gets a little older and have him pick out his first Disney mug. His is going to be interesting. I'm looking forward to it. Yeah. So other, , really cool things to do.
, you can also do this with your children as well, but I also feel like this is geared more towards adults. Is. We talked about last week. , you know, you can do horseback riding, you can do kayaking jet skiing, but did you know you can also do archery. I did not. Yeah. So you can pay. To do like archery training and shooting and things like that. In fact. , at the. Golf courses you can pay for golf. Training. And at the ESPN wide world of sports, you can pay for tennis lessons.
You can do like all of these behind the scenes. Lessons and training that I did not realize that you could do until I was kind of researching for today's podcast. So I think that's really neat. And then of course there are places where you can play basketball and volleyball and. And you can go boating. You can go fishing at Disney world. At like the Fort wilderness area, you can rent fishing poles and.
You can play pickleball.
I mean, they have. Whatever you're into. I'm pretty sure they have it somewhere at one of the resorts. Yeah. So again, those are more like adult type things. I think most adults that I know. Enjoy doing that kind of stuff. , you can take a ferry across the seven seas lagoon, which is absolutely beautiful.
I highly recommend doing it at night. If you're there, like. On a honeymoon or anniversary, or has a date with a significant other it's really beautiful scenery. Absolutely beautiful. Very stunning. , especially, if you can catch it. On a full moon. Then you go over to the lagoon. It's just, it's stunning, .
We even went, , during the day and it was kind of sprinkling in gray and dreary, and I still really enjoyed it. It was still beautiful driving through that or riding the boat through there. , just Disney world in general, just has beautiful scenery. You can rent bikes on the resort and go biking.
I think that would be a really nice couple thing. Or if you're on a solo trip, that would be really nice. I don't. I think that's something I'm going to enjoy doing with my children. Because I would be worried about them the whole time. Like, you know, traffic and them getting tired and them getting thirsty and all the things that kids do. Wondering off and. And falling off of bicycles, but if it was just adults and we were renting bikes, I would absolutely love to rent bikes for a day. And explore the Disney world resort.
We talked about. Last week about how you can do a self guided tour of the resort, because it has beautiful scenery. And if it was just adults, instead of taking all of the different transportation that Disney has to offer, I would love to rent a bike and do it.
Riding bikes is definitely, I don't want to say it's one of those adult only things. But usually adult endurance is a little bit more than what children are. So if you have small kids and you're going, I mean, they're like six, seven, maybe 10 years old. They're not going to last as long as, , possibly adults will. Depending on, you know, What's your athletic ability is, but. You definitely, you get away from the hassle of trying to keep up or trying to slow down for them and getting tandem bikes.
Whenever it's only like two people. And one person can do the vast majority of the work, but you're still together and you're still enjoying. , the travel back and forth is. To me would be , one of those romantic things that you could do. , another, I kind of feel is more geared towards adult thing that Disney does is all of the behind the scenes tours.
You can do, , VIP tours behind the scene tours, special tours. I don't think our children would enjoy those as much. Now, maybe now, you know, Justin might would, he's a T you know, 17 now he enjoys learning things, stuff like that. But I definitely couldn't imagine trying to take Jasper through something like that, or even the other two when they were younger, because I think they would get bored very quickly. But as an adult. It's something I've always wanted to do is one of the VIP tours, because the VIP tours can get into so much behind the scene that you never see. Because , for instance, a cast member that's in the pirates of the Caribbean area, you never see in a. And future land. Because there's different entrances and exits.
And I even read a story one time where. The cast members actually show up in plain clothes and they go into a specific door. Then they get dressed for their, their day. Because they already have their costumes and everything there. And then they go into their little area. And then they go change back into. You know, civilian clothes and walk out of the park and you never know. That they were even a cast member or you hear about the underground tunnels that are all over Disney world and how they get from one area to another, without you ever seeing them transport. Or that the trash actually gets vacuumed at 60 miles an hour to a main Benin. That you never see.
And so there's so much behind the scenes. , that I would, especially with the job that I do. Being an in, um, development and doing building. Inspections of just seeing how everything behind the scene works. , To us. It seems flawless because all we see is the magic that's in front of us, that they put out, but all the stuff that they do behind the scenes, , I can only imagine what it looks like.
And I really want to check that out. Yeah, I think that is a really great. Date opportunity or solo opportunity to learn more of Disney world and how it functions and what it's doing. Without taking the kids. Definitely without, I don't know if I'd want to take the kids with us. Another great adult only type thing that you could go and do on your adult.
Only vacation. I, um, have always wanted to do the package that you can buy. At magic kingdom where you can. That's like the fireworks and the. Dessert combo that you can do. And you watch the fireworks on special reserved seating, and then you get served desserts and stuff afterwards. To me, that's a very adult. Thing to do like a didn't even know that was a thing. Hey you didn't because we have the kids. And you're charged per person. And it's late at night and you know, our kids are not big at late at night.
We only do that a few times. Why we're there? We don't do that every night. But yes, it is an option and it's something I've always wanted to do. But then when I, in my mind, when I picture it, I picture of it just being me and you when we're old and retired and we're going on our, our own little Disney trip by ourselves.
Right. Because how cool would that be? To like, get your own special seating, which I could only imagine is not going to be on like the ground floor. You're going to be up. Up on top of like a restaurant, like, um, top level and then like the roof of a restaurant. I cannot remember which restaurants are the ones that participate in this, but while you're watching the fireworks, you're getting served, desserts and drinks. Myra watching the show. That's pretty cool.
Yeah. I should've done more research to remember where it was. I just remember from all the times I've booked our Disney vacations. Of this always be in one of the options of one of the packages that you can buy. I should've looked it up today so I could remember, but, um, if I find it, I'll link it down in the show notes so that everyone can see that. But, uh, yeah, one of the, to me that is a great adult only vacation type experience.
Yeah. Because I can only imagine that whenever you actually get finished with your dessert or your drink, Are you just have a little bit of extra time just to kind of relax up there. While you look at everyone trying to run around like crazy Daschle, get out of the park. Cause that's usually whenever it closes at that point after the firework shows. And whenever a vast majority of the people are trying to get out of the park and into their vehicles or on public transportation. That you can. Kind of wait out all of that craziness and just enjoying a nice, wonderful view. Yeah, because it's so hard sometimes trying to find a spot to watch the fireworks from, especially if it's during a peak season time, you're squished in. It's, it's not fun.
Sometimes those fireworks crowds at magic kingdom. It's not fun. It's really not because everyone crowds around the Cinderella. Well, and down and up and down main street. And they're packed like sardines. But we like to do is start leaving right before the fireworks. And then we watched the fireworks on our bus ride home or a bus ride back to our hotel.
So especially magic kingdom. There's different ways of watching the fireworks show. I didn't know about the desert and fireworks. That's cool. Um, right outside of the magic kingdom, there are ferries that take you to the French quarter, all those that are around that lake right there, but they actually stop in the middle and they play the music and you watch the fireworks show from on the water. Oh, that's neat. Really cool. , and then the other one is, is you can actually watch the fireworks from the boardwalk, which is another place that is not necessarily straight up adult. Only, but there is a lot of things to do adult wise on the boardwalk,
that you can go and you actually get to see. The fireworks from a distance nonetheless, but you do get to see them.
I think. For people who are maybe not. As enthusiastic about Disney in general, as we are. The hardest people to convince our dads. Yes. I could see that. We just had a male friend. Recently talk about how they were going to Disney world soon. With his wife's family and how much he was not looking forward to it. Over the Christmas holidays.
And he was like Ebeneezer, Scrooge. And he was like, I'm going to have a horrible time. And Jeremy and I are just staring at him, like, what's wrong with you? You're going to Disney
and so we'd sorted targets. And we're like, okay, where are you going? What do you plan on doing here? What do you plan on doing there? He's like, I'm just going to walk around until they get ready to go to. Yeah. He said it was just going to sit on a bench and I'm like, oh my gosh, there's so much to do.
But I do feel like. Men. Grown men specifically are the hardest to convince that they're going to have a good time and that they can have a good time in Disney world. Right. Because I think you can go with three. Mentalities two of them. Are probably not the best one is definitely. Above and beyond number one. I do not go with, I'm going to have the worst time ever. Well, anytime you have that mentality towards anything, then you're going to have the worst time. You're going to find something to complain about. And it's not going to be there.
The second one is you go with the highest expectations. Like you're going to see all their shows. You're going to see all the rod you're going to eat all the food. You're going to have a great and wonderful time. , it's going to be nonstop, smiles and laughs the whole time. Which is not always true.
And then something's not going to reach the expectation that you had for it. But if you go in there with like, Look, I just want to have a good time and I'm just going to enjoy whatever comes my way. That is like the absolute attitude. I think guys, especially have a hard time with that. I think it's straight up either. They go in with high expectations because they're, they're really excited about going well, I think. Yeah, I think that with guys, the main thing is, is they viewed Disney world as. Castles and princesses.
Yeah, it's a kid park. Well, I specifically on girl park. I, yeah. I feel like that's what they think of, but there is so much. Geared towards, I'm not gonna say men specifically, but men do. Levitate towards these areas, more such as the star wars experience, the galaxy edge that's there now. Absolutely. Uh, I think it's become. I don't want to say men friendly. But I do want to say that it's, it's become. More appealing. Certain parks because of their theme or because of the areas that are inside of it.
So like Hollywood studios is definitely one of those, in my opinion, that. Up the skill of drawing. , adult man. You have the rock and roller coaster, you have , The wait, what, what's the one? Um, the tower of terror. And then you have the Galaxy's edge that's there. So definitely. Probably one of the, I'm going to say men friendly, but the men that aren't Disney, enthusiastic, maybe like if you're not going with your little daughter and experiencing the whole princess as she has a if you're just a. We're solely talking about. Either guys going by themselves or a couple going. Guys, we're going to get the most enjoyment.
In my opinion, got two parks. Number one, it's going to be Epcot. Number two, it's going to be Hollywood studios. Well, I was going to say, now the animal kingdom has, um, the Pandora. Land. Which I, a lot of guys really like that. The movie avatar. So now that they have Pandora, they have all of those rides and roller coasters that are geared.
, Towards that movie, I think is also a really guy friendly location now, too. Yeah. That would be number three on the scale. And of course, magic kingdom of course, would be on the bottom. , Just based upon, you know, if guys by themselves were really to enjoy something, that's kind of how that would go.
Now, if you go with a family or you go with a couple, like whenever I go with my wife, she enjoys. Whenever you go with your wife, who else are you going to be going with? If you go to Disney world, I am there with you, baby. You don't get to go without me. So. I've gone with my wife all the time. But there are some times where she stayed at a hotel because of the sick one.
And I got to go with the in-laws and kind of enjoy the other stuff that may not have been what she wanted to do. But if you go as a couple, you get to enjoy, you know, The women tend to do the princess stuff, or they might have one or two movies that they're really keen into, whether it be. Marijuana or Milan or. Um, snow white or something like that, that, you know, you get to enjoy those at magic kingdom, but beyond that guys, maybe pirates of the Caribbean and that's about all there is at. There's the jungle cruise and there's lots of stuff. Yeah. I think outside the box. Ah, I enjoy most aspects of Disney world. But if you have someone in your party that is absolutely bah humbug and they do not want to go to one of the theme parks, leave them at home.
Yeah, that might be the best thing. But. There's an entire world of sports that Disney world offers. Oh yes. So we talked about them pretty extensively on our last podcast and beyond the theme parks, but, you know, there's the golf courses that they offer the PGA level. Golf courses. Some of the nicest golf courses in America. Are in the Disney world resort. They're they're beautiful. And then you have the NBA experience of the NBA bubble. So, what can you tell us about the NBA thing they have?
So the NBA bubble, of course. Most MBA enthusiasts will know. That whenever we were limited on going to sporting events and, um, didn't know kind of, if they were going to be able to get a team together. The MBA came together in the 1920 season and had a kind of a condensed. Version of the MBA season, but they did it at Disney world. And they played the regular season or a few games of the regular season.
They played the, um, the playoff games there and then the NBA finals were there whenever the Los Angeles one. And it was all done. At Disney world. So the players stayed at Disney world. The trainers stayed at Disney world. And they had things for them to do just beyond playing basketball. And they had training facilities, but the MBA bubble is definitely one of those that you can go to and you can walk on the court. Just like LeBron. And DIRTT Novinski and some of those other players and be like, oh man, I'm walking where, you know, The superstars played. You know, I got to stand and shoot a basket at. You know, this, the same bucket that the Los Angeles Lakers were on. And so it's, it's a awesome little place that you can go to that you can check it out.
I think the prices nowadays are roughly like $35 to get in, but you get to enjoy. A really good price, really good price for all the different activities that they have inside in the course. They're going to have your sports bar there. So . They're gonna be playing , basketball games or hockey or, or some type of sport.
, you'll enjoy the pub kind of atmosphere. You'll enjoy , the bar food. And so , it's definitely just one of those cold places as guys, Sport enthusiastic can go, but if you're not specifically into basketball and you want to check out other sports, they also have the ESPN world. The ESPN wide world of sports.
Yeah. Which again, we talked about that pretty extensively on our, beyond the theme parks episode. So if you want to hear more about that, go listen to that episode, but that ESPN wide world of sports also offers. , a bar and grill that's there. I think like all the way around 360 views, you have TVs and they're all like showing different. Sporting events and stuff.
That's going on live. It's definitely a, um,
Basically a giant sports bar, but I restaurant as well. It's, it's massive. It's huge. I've seen pictures of it. It's absolutely huge. And then throughout the complex, there are various concession stands and food trucks that's located throughout because the complex itself is very huge. I mean, it's massive. I mean, I'm talking about like track and field. Matter of fact, whenever, um, The second time we were there. There was a cheerleading competition that was going on. And their competition was mainly being held at the ESPN complex because they have an entire massive stage that they get on.
And they go in and do competitions. I mean, so, I mean, , any kind of sport that you're looking at. You can do it all there. So if you have a man in your life who you just can not convince that he will have a good time at Disney world. Make sure you throw in a day that revolves around sports for him, or make sure that you aren't have men friendly dad friendly. Um, events and restaurants and things scheduled for him. Too, so that he can have a really great time to, and again, I don't think this is, you know, the sporting stuff.
The ESPN wide world of sports is something that our daughter would enjoy very much. Probably not something our, our toddler would enjoy very much, not a hundred percent sure about Justin. I feel like that is again, a really great place for an adult only vacation. Of course, if you have kids that they're doing competitions there, or they like to sports or things like that. But if you are an adult only vacation, it is another great opportunity to go spend. You could spend , a whole day of doing nothing but sporting things, right.
Especially if, you know, we talked about. Getting ready for the wedding. You know, the girls can go do their small thing and the gas can definitely get into ESPN and do their sports. And play whatever sport that they want to play. Um, get pictures of it taken, you know, the whole nine yards for it. So it's definitely one of those places to go.
But whether you're single, whether you're with a couple, whether you're with a, an adult only group, I mean. Disney world. Has what you want. It has something for everyone. Everyone from all ages, it really does. No matter what you're into. Disney. World's going to have something that you're going to enjoy.
You have your theme parks, you have your water parks, you have your sport complex. You have your shopping districts. They're swimming. There's. An entire resort that is revolved around camping and link activities. I feel like there's something there for everyone. And if you do. Your research well enough, then you'll can make sure that everyone in your family or , everyone in your party. Is going to have at least some aspect of the vacation. That is geared toward them.
I mean, I plan on having my retirement party there. Your retirement party.
Because it's just one of those places that, you know, Disney world. Peace such close attention to detail. That no matter what you're going for. They have something special for you. So. A couple of times that we went, we went late April early may and it was our kids' birthdays. And we told them that, you know, Hey, Sometimes they ask you what your, you. What are you here for?
And you're like, oh, we're celebrating the kid's birthday. And then they make sure that they have like special buttons for them to people let them know that it's their birthday and you know, or if it's your first time that they'll. You know, there there's a little extra little treat that they give you. For knowing that information.
And so if you're there for a wedding or if you're there. And doing a honeymoon or an anniversary, . There's little things that are, that are done behind the scenes that, you know, may not be on your reservation, that you have to check off or whatever. But if you let them know, it was like, oh yeah, we're here for X, Y, and Z.
It's like there's little stuff that they love doing for you just to make your experience that much more. Yes. Whenever you book your vacation. A lot of times it'll ask you if you're there for a special occasion, and you can mark what special occasion that is. And for example, when we made our lunch reservations, At the, um, That beauty and the beast restaurant.
I forget the name of it. When we made our reservations there. And I put that it was for the kid's birthday, they brought out special desserts, , and I didn't even say anything while we were there. It was just already marked on the vacation that I had booked, you know, six months prior. And they , brought out special desserts for the kids because we were there celebrating their birthdays.
And that was a memento that had been made on our reservations. You know, That much in advance. And so that was really unique and special. , whatever you're going for, they make it very special for you. If you make sure that you make it known that that's what you're there for. So, you know, a honeymoon or an anniversary. That they're going to help you raise it up a notch.
They're going to help you make the most memories that you can make out of that. To make your experience that much better. And they want you to have a greatest time as possible. So they'll definitely help you. . And I know that Disney itself has based a lot of controversy over the last several years. , A lot of people. You know, like us and our generation are. , quite tired of seeing them make live action films of everything and running all of our classics in our favorites. And, , Disney itself and their movies and their content that they have come out with. , there's, there's been a lot of controversy over.
There's been a lot of backlash. There's been a lot of just. Discussion around that. But Disney world. I'm not going to say, obviously, as part of that Disney franchise. But it's not. Um, It doesn't so much focus on a lot of the new stuff, I guess, or focus on like the live action movies and things like that.
Disney world is more of your classics. Disney world is more of nostalgia. It's about, you know, bringing childhood memories to live. And it actually offers way, way, way more than just what Disney movies do. It's not all about Disney movies, you do have your characters and stuff. But, you know, you have your sports complex, you have your shopping, you have lots of things outside of the realm of Disney movies that there is to experience inside of the Disney world resort.
So although, , we're not totally thrilled with the direction that Disney has been in the last few years, as far as. Their movies or their. Lack of imagination. And that's why we're just redoing all of these old movies and delay of actions. Although we're not super thrilled with that. We still really, really enjoy our time at Disney world.
We really enjoy. Disney world, the theme parks, everything that has to do outside the theme parks that we talked about in the last episode. And we really enjoy everything that there is to do whenever you're not a kid.
It doesn't matter. What kind of experience that you're looking for? Disney world will definitely do its best to help you out.
Next week. We want to wrap up our Disney world series and I think it might be the most awaited. For episode, the most asked for episode. But we're going to 📍 discuss how we afford going to Disney world. Yes, it is expensive. Yes, it costs a chunk of money. But there are ways to do it. That breaks it down. And, you know, I don't feel like we have just spent. A massive amount of money.
, every time we go, we do it. Debt-free we have everything paid for before we get there. And I usually am able to do it all within a year or less of budgeting that and getting it ready. So. Tune in next week as we break all of that down for you.
